Many Facebook users are not aware that Facebook is going to be changing quite radically over the next few weeks. And I am not talking about the few resent changes like the news ticker and news feed… No no! Basically Facebook will be changing your profile pages completely and converting it into an “Timeline” of your life. This is going to be Facebook’s biggest change since the site launched!

At the F8 convention (An event where nerds meet up) Mark Zuckerberg gave a demo of the new timeline. I think alot of people are going to get freaked out at the new changes as its allot of work to fill in all the gaps. For example you timeline starts at your birth and since you were born before Facebook launched you would have to go back and fill in all the missing gaps like images, place of birth ect. I mean its not complsary but before Facebook just worked with out any effort… Now you are going to have to become somewhat of a “scrap-booker”.

If you are an impatient person like me you can get the new timeline activated now though the developer section. There are loads more features like the new maps section where you can now see a map of all the places you have been. And now extra large profile image header + the normal sized profile picture. The timeline lets your scroll back to pretty much any time of your life, and if there is any missing gaps you can fill them in.

I know allot of people are going to moan about the new changes, but I personally like change. Change refreshes the mind and keeps us on our toes! Without change we would not evolve!

When creating a new design for a client I needed to work out how to display content on different sections of a page…. I know that you can get plugin’s that support short codes you insert into the content box, but that was no good to me as I needed it user friendly for my clients.

I came across the really get plugin that lets you display as many content boxes as you want. You can then insert a small bit of php code in your temple page where you would like to display the text and the plugin will automatically generate as many content boxes you need. This little plugin can make your designs extremely flexible as designs need to be to be cleint friendly when updating text.

Have you ever wonder how people get there online store listed on Google Shopping Results? We had a client asked us to look into it and after loads of research I have come up with the main points to getting your online store listed.

In order to get rankings on Google Shopping results you need to first get your products listed in “Google Base” (www.google.com/base).

Here are the ways you can get your products uploaded to Google Base:

One by one if you have a small database of products

Using a feed to upload all your products (Recommended)

To get the very best results you need to include the following data:

Product Name (Title – Keyword must be included)

Price (Competitive pricing)

Description (The more detailed the better)

Link to Product Page

Link to Product Image

Condition

Google Shopping Result

Most important factors for Google Shopping

Products Title
The products title has to include the products keywords

Price
You price can also be a factor in getting higher rankings. Prices need to be competitive

Description
Your description must be well throughout and rich in information, describing your product with keywords and phrases. Just remember NOT to keyword stuff!

Data Fields
When submitting product data to Google Base. You have many fields. Adding as much data possible can be the difference between good results and great results!

Fresh Feed
Google does not crawl your product data feed as it does with site pages. So having an frequently updated feed will help Google rank your site correctly.

Product Reviews
This is one of the most important ranking factors! The more positive reviews your products have the better. Google takes these reviews in account big time! There are many ways of getting reviews on your products. First would be from your site and then third party sites that Google feeds from.

Some of the third party review sites:

pricegrabber.co.uk

reviewcentre.com

shopzilla.co.uk

ciao.co.uk

dealtime.co.uk

truste-marketing.co.uk

webuser.co.uk

maxxsave.co.uk

dooyoo.co.uk

resellerratings.com

Google Shopping results can be a great tool for your online business. You just need to give rich up to date information.

When setting up a Facebook fan page you will notice the URL to your fan page is not exactly the friendliest… It’s basically a load of numbers, and that’s no good if you would like to share the link and get Facebook search rankings. What you need to do in order to get your custom Facebook URL is get at least 25 people to “Like” your page. Once you have 25 “Likes” Facebook will give you the option of creating a custom URL. Done!
